It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

'Tis beginning to be the season in Michigan. Rose has the house decorated for Christmas in anticipation of the family gathering from the far ends of the country. Erin will be here from San Diego on Dec 18. Maeve and Aaron are flying into Detroit Dec 20 and we will pick them up and stay in Sturgis for two days while we have a baby shower for Maeve at Grandma Redmond's place. The Denja clan will join us there for two nights. Then Dec 22 we all head to Traverse City for a few days together. The snow has arrived in force, the traditional Brandy slush is made and Rose made the sugar cookie dough (Grandma Alice's recipe). Bob had planned to go downstate to attend a luncheon for retired Branch ISD central office staff and then visit Mom in Sturgis but a snow storm got in the way. So we hunkered down and decorated and baked the cookies, had some Brandy slush and looked out the window at the falling snow.
December 2 snow fall in the backyard. Only about 5 inches on the ground.

December 9 snowfall added another 8 inches or so.

The wind blew and piled up the snow into a drift on the back deck.

This "cat" is about two feet tall so you see the accumulation.

Rose hard at work with the first cookie cuts.

Bob's job was decorating the cookies and making sure the Brandy slush was acceptable.

Some of the finished product. We paint the cookies with an egg and food coloring mixture.

Sampling the cookies and the slush. Happy Holidays!
And, we can hardly wait for the family to arrive.

Love the last pic! Can't wait to see everyone and make snow angels in the yard, or go snowshoeing (I've never done that). Love you.
