Last Weekend of September

The last week of September was a busy one and the final weekend featured a visit from Bob's mother, Alice. But before the visit Rose decided that all the furniture from downstairs and the living room needed to be totally exchanged.

We also had a quick visit from a friend from our Boyne Falls days, Kathy Massey. She stopped by Thursday night and we had great conversation then on Friday Rose and Kathy played golf at the Elk Rapids Golf Course. Bob spent the day Friday driving downstate to pickup Grandma Alice and brought her back for a few days with us up north.

The weather cooperated and we had a nice weekend.

The revised living room. Note that Bob's chair is tucked back in the corner! It was about the only way to get the large sectional to fit.

Grandma Alice did a little relaxing while visiting.

So did Rose.

Sunday morning we took a long walk for a view of East Bay from the golf course. Grandma Alice did a great job and we logged over a mile.

Our Sunday trip took us through Charlevoix. The sculpture shown is outside the public library.

Charlevoix has a collection of "Mushroom Houses" that add quite the charm to the town.

One of several "mushroom houses."

In search of some fall color we drove north of Harbor Springs and eventually to Cross Village, home of the interesting Legs Inn. Click on the photo above to read the historical sign.

The back of Legs Inn sits on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. They have a beautiful garden where people can dine or just walk or relax.

On the way back home we had to take the Tunnel of Trees.
