The photo above was taken on August 22, yes it's August and you'll notice long sleeves, headband and gloves! It was a bit chilly for a few days while the Coakleys were here from Florida. Of course only Floridian Katie needed the ear warmer!
We explored a bit around Maple Bay Township Park and came upon this cool little shack built totally out of driftwood that washed up on the shore. We don't know if this is on private property or still in the township park but we left it as we found it.
This is a marker tree just east of downtown Traverse City. It is the tree that son-in-law Mike and I were trying to find a month ago. Trees like this were bent early in their life as Indian markers for trails. There are several in Traverse City.
How do you like my next project? Yup, this is what is next in the backyard. Pretty cool, eh? Ok, it is really in a little park in Central Lake but I think I'm going to use the trees that need to be cut down to do something similar...if the back holds out.
Rose's felting projects continue. No, they are not stocking caps but wool felted bowls on the left and what they look like before they go through the hot water and tumbled wash.
This weekend Rose's sister Mary (in the middle), sister-in-law Robin and brother Mike (still asleep as this is taken) are visiting as I write. Very nice to see them and thankfully the weather is good again for the weekend.
We went for a nice walk in our "private park" on Saturday morning. It's after Labor Day and we wonder if there will be any more golfers?

You guys have really been out and about enjoying the Michigan outdoors. Some good shots. The Indian trail marker tree even has some sort of sign at the base of the tree.
