South Carolina and Birthday Visit

Before we traveled south we had picked up a nice little outfit for the girls. Maria models the princess outfit for us all.

The last weekend of October was the time of our visit to Lexington, SC to visit daughter Maeve and husband Aaron Mason and their daughter Kendall. Daughter Erin is there acting as their nanny so we got a chance to visit her, too! Oldest daughter LeighAnne and her youngest child, Peter, accompanied us along with Great-grandmother Alice. We drove to Birmingham before we left for South Carolina to visit and enjoy wonderful company and food at the Denja's. LeighAnne had a birthday while we were in Lexington and Rose's is just a few days later with Maeve's just two weeks later still. So, this trip served as a nice birthday treat, too!

We left on Monday at 6:30am and flew to Myrtle Beach then drove to Lexington to enjoy a short but very pleasant visit. A few photos follow. You can check out the Denja blog for more photos.

Maria made this wonderful dish of mashed potatoes surrounded by broccoli and cheese. Great!

Great-Grandma Alice was able to make the trip and we celebrated LeighAnne's birthday at Grandma and Grandpa Denja's house

We landed at the Myrtle Beach airport and drove to Columbia/Lexington, SC. Our first stop was to visit Maeve at her office in the air quality division at DHEC in Columbia.

Maeve's office is quite nice and her wall of family photos is a great touch.

Kendall loves her food.

LeighAnne with Peter and Kendall at Maeve's house. The two are getting to know each other.

Kendall loves to pull hair but Peter does not like it!

Aunt Erin and Kendall sport their pretty hats.

Daddy Aaron loves Kendall and they like to chill out together.

Bath time for the two cousins. They'll love this photo 15 years from now.

Aunt Erin made the famous eggbake for breakfast.

Grandma Rose thinks Kendall is pretty terrific.

Great-Grandma Alice and Grandpa Bob are waiting with Kendall for lunch.

Mommy Maeve and Kendall like their hats that Grandma Rose made.

The three sisters lounged a bit together. It's always fun for us to watch them interact. The fingerless gloves that LeighAnne has on are one birthday gift from BaaBaaZuZu in Leland, MI.

Aaron and Maeve took us out to Shealy's famous BBQ in Batesville. Great food!

Cousins Peter and Kendall do a little bonding.

Kendall loves to clap her hands.

Kendall is pretty good at Jeopardy. "OO...OO, I know that answer!"

Aunt LeighAnne takes Kendall for a little bike ride

Main Street in downtown Columbia. We thought the reflection of the older building in the new building was an interesting contrast.

Our final day's lunch at the Mellow Mushroom in Columbia.

Ice cream cake was the desert at the house after our lunch.

We were introduced to the game Quirkle.

Peter and Mommy chill a bit before we leave for home.

Through the years LeighAnne and her cousin Sean were always stood back to back to compare their growth. The tradition continues with Kendall and Peter.
