Not Quite St. Patrick's and Old Mission Quilts

We've been out an about for a few days before St. Patrick's Day. We checked out the parade in Traverse City on Saturday and then the host bar, Kilkenny's located in the basement of North Peak Brewery. On Monday we caught a performance of Celtic Crossings at the City Opera House. Tuesday we took a drive up Old Mission Peninsula on a beautiful sunny day to check out the Quilt Barns scattered on the peninsula. It's been a great few days with pretty decent weather in northern Michigan. Today the wind was totally calm and the day began with low 20 degree temps. Both East and West Grand Traverse Bays had patches of just formed ice with mirror images across the bay in the open water. It was all pretty cool to see.

We enjoyed a light meal at Kilkenny's. Rose's sweatshirt spells grandmother in Irish.

As we started our quilt tour we had to get a photo of a field of hops just outside the village of Old Mission. Note how tall the poles are and there is netting overhead to keep out the birds.

One of several quilt barns on the Old Mission quilt tour. Several more photos follow.

Mom looks less than enthused in the picture. Quilt barns looked cool (I thought by the description it would be quilts in barns)...Happy St Pats!
