OK, the temps dropped from 80deg on Thursday to 38deg on Saturday. The wind was howling out of the northwest and the skies were overcast. We needed to get out but it was too cold to work outside. We could hear the Lake Michigan surf from our house so decided to travel to Empire and the Sleeping Bear Dunes to check them out during this weather.
Bob picked up an annual national parks pass to use on his bike trip and we headed to the Pierce Stocking Drive to go to the overlook. The drifted sand clearly showed us who visit during the summer months just how much the dunes can move over time.
Trillium trying to bloom. They are all over the forest floor just waiting to explode with the next warm weather and rain.

The path to the overlook on Pierce Stocking Drive. The notch to the right of the trees easily has 5 feet of drifted sand piled up.
