Bob's West Coast Trip...a few quick pics

I'm writing this from Comfort Inn in Klamath Falls, OR. First place I've been to that had a computer and would let me connect and download a few. Have been blessed with clear weather so far even though quite hot in Bryce and Zion area. The ride north today out of Reno was very cool...literally and figuratively. Had to wear all my gear to stay warm.

Shot above is the Grand Canyon as I flew into Salt Lake City from my connector in Phoenix. Colorado River is pretty clearly seen.

Bryce Canyon. I'm about to take a hike to the canyon floor and its cool at this time at 82. Later rose to 96 and was 105 where I stayed in Hurricane, UT.

Made it to the canyon floor and looking up.

The high desert was in bloom. I stopped to smell the cactus.

Now in Zion National Park. Hiked to Upper Emerald Pool just below the dark spot at the bottom of the rock ridge. Beautiful pool with a waterfall about 150 foot high and much cooler...thankfully.

Highway 50 across Nevada. It was hot and hazy. I tried to get a photo of the road stretching to the horizon in the distance. It was at least 15 miles across this valley. Dust storm was blowing up off to the right when I got on the bottom of the valley. Very cool!

Made a stop at Lassen Volcanic Park in northern CA. The road I planned to take went through the park but about 8 miles in they closed it. Snow was still blocking the passes. This shot shows the visitor center. You get the idea.

I took an unplanned detour west from Lassen. Rode to Redding, CA and up Interstate 5 to see Shasta Lake and just get a different perspective. Mt. Shasta is visible for miles and rises above all else in the area. This shot is from the north side as I was leaving CA and nearly into Oregon. Stunning site for miles and miles.
