Week two of Grandma's visit with us began with a lovely day and Maeve's birthday. We had a very nice meal together and chocolate cake for dessert. Nice to have near 80deg in mid-November!
Lots of history in this part of the country so we took a day trip to the Santee area to check out history, a timeshare trade possibility and to see more country. We made a stop at Mepkin Abbey which was a fortunate turn because they just started their annual creche display. We got Grandma out for a nice walk in a beautiful setting and saw some great artwork, too.
Grandma checks her email...but she hates the laptop!

Near Thanksgiving and nice temps.
Happy Birthday Maeve.

In Michigan these would be bales of hay but down here they are bales of cotton.
The last battle of South Carolina territory in the Revolutionary War.
I've been reading Charleston by John Jakes and we stopped by this spot to see where "The Swamp Fox" was buried.
A little history for you.
This site is in a rather obscure location.
More history and now a very beautiful abbey.
Some of the grounds.
No alligators were out today.
Carved entirely out of a single downed tree.
The first canal in the United States near Moncks Corner, SC.
Remnants of the old canal.
A replica of "Little David" which was an early version of torpedo boat used in the Civil War.
