We went to spend a week in the north Georgia foothills near Clarkesville at the Apple Mountain Resort for a week and the Masons joined us for Tuesday through Saturday. The area is beautiful and lies in the foothills of the Appalachia Mountains near the beginning of the Appalachian Trail.
Many rivers and waterfalls in the area and nearby Helen is the birthplace of the Cabbage Patch Dolls. Each of our girls got one when they were young and Maeve even took hers, Marna, on the trip (now it is Kendall's doll...survived all these years!)
A good time, great weather and a nice, family friendly resort.
Wild flowers in bloom. Can you identify this?
Kendall liked the playground at our resort.
The biggest hit of the trip...
Loving
Maeve lit up...and so would LeighAnne and Erin had they seen it!
They let kids roam in the store which was really great.
The bunnies in the tree sprinkle bunnie dust on the babies below to make them hatch.
Avery loved them all.
Cabbage Patch babies of all sizes and shapes everywhere.
The original
We got to witness a "birthing." They make quite the production of this.
Anna Ruby Falls is a beautiful spot a few miles from Helen and quite close to the Appalachian Trail.
The smaller of the two falls.
The hike up the trail to the falls must have been too much! Guess who was watching the girls?
We played a lot of putt putt golf at the resort. Nice that it was complimentary.
"Tigress?"
Grandma Rose was a big hit as usual reading stories.
Getting her nails painted!
Goats on the Roof is a tourist trap but a lot of fun. Kendall pedals the bike that moves the cup full of food up the ramp on a chain...
the goats run to get the can and eat the food. We did this several times.
"Rock, rock," says Avery.

Tallulah Falls Gorge
One of many waterfalls in the gorge.
A swinging bridge crosses the gorge about one-third of the way down.
A nice view from the bridge.
Lots of warnings about the dam gates and notice of where the high water mark is at the base of the gorge.
Hurricane Falls at the bottom of the gorge.
Where are we?
Toccoa Falls College houses the falls. This tells the story of a fairly recent tragedy.
A beautiful falls...one of the highest natural drops east of the Mississippi.
Kendall wanted to climb all over the rocks....not!
Can you identify this?
A grindstone near the falls
Pitts Park in Clarkesville was a nice spot to play and have a picnic dinner.
Everyone got to swing.
Sisterly love.
On the way back to Lexington we stopped at Royston GA and the Ty Cobb Museum.
OK, had to show the progress on the pergola and pavers.
Pavers are laid. Now to finish the job.
