Hamtramck, St. Florian Strawberry Festival

This is the first of a few new blog posts coming today.  We arrived in Michigan on April 30 in time for the birthday party for oldest grand-daughter, Maria.  The end of the week we decided to check out a festival in Hamtramck and maybe some caterers for Erin's wedding this fall.  She and fiance' Mike want Polish food so what better place in the area than Hamtramck?
Here's a little info about St. Florian.

A beautiful church.  Here is the area above the altar.

A beautiful side altar.

The St. Florian hall ready for the Strawberry Festival and they also held a special mass for firefighters with a parade of local firefighters including some from Windsor, Canada.

Homemade Belgium waffles, strawberries, ice cream and home made whipped cream!  The gentleman that made these spoke Polish but did tell me in English that this is his own recipe brought over by his family when he emigrated from Belgium.

The beer tent before the crowd.  No cover charge!  We listened a band named the Polish Muslims.

Honoring the firefighters.  St. Florian is their patron saint.

Our first walk in the park behind our condo.
