Winter Wonderland

Between Saturday, December 1 and Wednesday, December 5 we have gotten about 10 inches of snow. Some drizzle in between packed it down a bit so we have about 8 inches on the level today. About 3 inches of fluffy powder fell today so we decided it was time to break out the snowshoes and get some outside exercise instead of the elliptical or treadmill at the Resort. We are starting to get into the winter mode.
Bob also got a chance to try out his new GPS device. According to it we logged about a mile in 27 minutes on the snowshoes. There was a total elevation change of about 80 feet on the trek. Inconsequential elevation but Bob thought it was cool that his new toy could measure the change. Not too shabby considering we were breaking through snowdrifts all the way out. We walked back in our same tracks in order to pack the snow down for our next trip out which we hope will be on the cross country skis. Of course when we returned home it was time for cocktails!

This photo shows the remnants of the arbor that Bob built two summers ago that blew down in the high winds that we had over the last two weeks. We have some more firewood for next year and Bob will rebuild another with some of the trees that he has to cut down in the spring.
"Hey Rose, isn't this fun!"

Bob tried to tap dance in the snow with snowshoes. Didn't work well but he ended with a flourish.

East Bay with the only spot of sunshine we have seen in several days. Note the snow squall on the far right. Lake effect snow has been hitting our area the last couple days.

That's a bummer about the arbor. I thought that thing was built to withstand a category 2 hurricane.
