Hallelujah! Sunshine! Whoohoo! We decided to get out and enjoy the sun even with 15deg temps. We watched Barak Obama be inaugurated on this beautiful day in the morning and Bob wondered, and hoped, that it was an omen of better times to come. We made a short trek to
Maple Bay Township Park on East Grand Traverse Bay to enjoy the sun, get a little exercise and generally blow the stink off.

The "wire" cat is about 2 feet tall so you see how much snow is on the ground in our backyard.

Yup, look up there, it's the sun! What a rare occurance this winter in northern Michigan but so beautiful when it comes out on a day like this.

The back is well enough to put on the snowshoes.

Rose nears the bay on our walk through the woods.

East Grand Traverse Bay is partially frozen over and beautiful.

This lone swan on the bay spent more time with its head in the water fishing than in this position.

Another view of the frozen bay.

Rose is headed up the hill on our way out of the woods onto an ancient shoreline of the bay.

We even saw a bunch of turkeys

This is the northern Michigan winter version of getting a suntan!
