Segment Two--Southern Trip

We left the Masons in South Carolina on March 1 and drove to The Villages, FL to visit our dear friends Pat and Katie Coakley. We stayed there a bit over a week and relaxed, relaxed, relaxed and enjoyed the sunshine on everyday except one. The day before we left two more guests arrived. Roger and Pat Finlan, mutual longtime friends, stopped by after their journeys south that included a cruise south and through the Panama Canal. When we left we stopped in Savannah for a short visit and stayed at a B&B in Beaufort, SC. We arrived at the Masons again on March 10 and will stay here until we leave for Michigan. Photos of our second segment follow.

Lots of relaxing on the lanai.

We limbered up our wrists spinning tops that we gave the Coakleys. These were all made by the father of our friends in Coldwater.

One of our day trips while at Coakleys was to go to the Gulf of Mexico. We drove to Crystal River and then to the Gulf. A beautiful, but very cool, day.

Another little day trip was to the village of Anthony where we saw the compound where John Travolta flies his 707 jet into his home in Florida. The compound is called Jumbolair and has quite the history. You can check out the aerial view by going to Google Maps and finding Anthony, FL and enlarging the map. The Travolta estate is the large area to the right of the middle of the runway.

Pat and Bob took a day trip to Daytona Beach for the annual Bike Week. Tens of thousands of bikes of all makes, models and configurations with many, many people doing the people watch thing.

Left to right are Roger, Katie, Pat, Bob, Rose and Pat. Self portrait of great long-term friends.

A glimpse of the old south in Savannah. Live oaks line this trail back to Wormsloe Historic Site. We also visited the Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah.

Our stay in Beaufort, SC was at the Cuthbert House. Very nice and a beautiful view right on the harbor in Beaufort.

A beautiful park along the harbor in Beaufort.

Our return to Masons in Lexington and Kendall is sporting her Harley onesie.
