Family 101

Those who may have read the blogs of our children already know about our very nice get-together on August 2. The stars aligned themselves so that every member of the nuclear family of my mother was together at her home in Sturgis. It was a beautiful day with a nice cooling breeze all day long but not so much as to blow things around.

Maeve and husband Aaron with daughter Kendall from South Carolina were in town for a wedding on the weekend . Erin had just traveled back from San Diego and was in town before she heads to the Carolinas. Nephew Sean and his wife Leslie with twin boys Will and Lowell just moved back from San Francisco to Chicago and were able to join us. And Leigh with hubby Mike and her family of Maria, Carmen, Isabel, Mikey and Petey all made it from Plymouth. Mike's parents Raul and Paula also visited and my Aunt Donna was there, too. Brother Dennis and wife Joan had a break in their busy schedule and drove over from their home west of Chicago. We were able to celebrate Petey's first birthday, too! It truly was a wonderful day.

We had a nice surprise at the end of the day when Rose's sister Mary stopped by with her 3 grown children and their families. I'm pretty sure that Thurston Woods Retirement has not seen that many young children and young adults in one place in quite a long time!

Kendall heard there was going to be a party so she sat right up!

The sign is ready for the birthday boy.

Erin is storing a rocker at Grandma's house and thought she better make sure it still works.

Grandma is relaxing before the visitors arrive.

We were glad that Aunt Donna was able to join us as well as Dennis and Joan.

Aaron Mason arrived a bit later...he had to rest up after the wedding the night before.

These are all of our grandchildren. Left to right: Carmen, Kendall, Maria in back, Mikey up front, Peter and Isabel

"I need a drink!"

"Would I like that, Daddy Sean?"

Great Grandma Alice with her two sons, four grandchildren and eight grandchildren.

Dennis is pretty proud of grandsons Will and Lowell

Mikey tried hard to help Petey with his birthday cake.

We also walked to the park near Grandma's house. Mikey tries to balance.

Grandpa Raul took a little rest at the park.

Rose's sister Mary stopped by at the end of the party. Nephew Chris and two of his boys seem to have a serious conversation.

Grandma Paula gives Petey a rest after his hard day of birthday celebration.

The whole crew got together for a photo. It takes a lot of work to do this!
