Today is Friday and Maeve and Aaron return from their vacation in Maine late tonight. In the last few days we did more things in the South Carolina heat. Grandma Rose had us try a new Uno game called OhNo 99. We had a hard time with the rules at first but figured it out. Grandma will surely make us all try it again!
We braved the sun on Wednesday to go to Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia.
The lions were enjoying the shade. Lions and Tigers and Bears, oh my! Well, the tigers and bears were out of sight deep in their lairs trying to stay cool.
We saw lots of animals. The flamingos were pretty but they smelled!
The gorillas were Grandpa Bob's favorite animals. They reminded him of how to beat the heat.
Isabel found a friend wandering on the back deck. This kitty stayed around quite awhile as Isabel enjoyed the petting.
Kendall continued to beat the heat and Grandma was so great about hanging outdoors in the sweltering temps with Kendall. Grandpa Bob did everything he could to not be outside!!!
Grandma Rose is pretty special. She puts Kendall down for her nap everyday and is the only one who can put her to sleep at night. She also is a pretty good diaper folder.
Kendall continued to practice her daycare routine. The doll, Marna, was actually Maeve's own Cabbage Patch doll when she was a little girl.
Monkey Joes is a fun place that we visited on Thursday. The heat index outside was 115 but we beat the heat inside.
Carmen and Isabel literally zoomed down the slide while Maria watches.
Carmen was a great help with Kendall and coaxed her onto a bigger slide.
It took Kendall awhile to get used to the noise but she eventually decided to check things out.
The arcade games at Monkey Joes resulted in prize tickets for the girls to purchase goodies.
Kendall enjoyed the slide.
Kendall had a great game of continually plopping down on her butt in the pool. It went on for nearly 30 minutes. She had a great time.
When she is tired Kendall has this habit of sucking her thumb and putting her other hand on her head. But, with Grandma Rose, she gets her comfort from patting Grandma!
