National Cherry Festival Air Show...Blue Angels

Good neighbor, Ring, and I headed to the airport to watch the planes take off or land for the air show in Traverse City on Saturday. It was a beautiful day with clear skies, light breeze and 85. We picked the wrong end of the airstrip to see them take off but we got to watch them land.

The photo above shows them taxi out to line up for take off. I took a photo but when they turned on the afterburners all we saw was smoke!

Four of the six Blue Angels in formation under the sun.

"Fat Albert" is the Blue Angels support plane, a C130 Hercules. A pretty neat site by itself.

A lousy photo but you can see how close they fly in formation.

One of many acrobatics they perform.

Tried to get a close up as they flew over our position and aimed for the sky.

Coming in for a landing.

All six Blue Angels landed right over us and they land just seconds apart from each other. Amazing machines and pilots indeed!

It would be hard to not be impressed by the precision of the jets and their pilot. Good shots too Bob!
