85 years...Great-Grandmother to Great-Grandson

The last week of September and first of October were eventful times. We had a nice week long visit with Mom and then drove to Plymouth a day later for the birth of the newest member of the Denja family...Mateo Robert Joseph.

We enjoyed several things with Mom's visit. Among them was sampling our luck at casinos. Here are the ladies coming out of Odawa Casino in Petoskey.

We made sure to have Mom get her exercise while staying with us.

Mom had a nice nap basking in the warm sun on the back deck.

The morning of October 1 shows LeighAnne in the "before" status with baby Mateo inside.

Just as we drove into the parking lot of St. Joseph's hospital in Ann Arbor we got a text from Mike saying that Mateo arrived. Maria and Carmen could barely contain their excitement in the elevator.

Grandma Rose with Mateo just a couple hours old.

Carmen loves to hold Mateo. Wait a few years and see if she feels the same about a younger brother!

We tried to keep the boys busy and played with the trains. Rose had quite a good time!

Grandpa Raul and Grandma Paula admire baby Mateo.

The whole family can fit on their new sofa.

Grandpa Bob thinks Mateo is pretty special.

We took a walk to downtown Plymouth to check out the scarecrow display. We had all five older kids and gave Mommy and Daddy a little alone time with Mateo. Rose thought her virtues best fit with this scarecrow.

Spiritus Sanctus also had a scarecrow entered and on display. The kids love the school.

Isabel's favorite was a Tim Burton-ish bride.

It was a long last day and Peter was tuckered out. We are so glad for our six healthy grandchildren in Plymouth. In December we get to welcome the Mason's second daughter and our eighth grandchild!
