Grandkids' Visit and Miscellaneous

The month of May has been a full one. Mom had abdominal aortic aneurysm surgery on May 4 and we made many trips downstate to Kalamazoo and Sturgis. She had a great recovery being discharged from the hospital just 5 days after surgery and in nursing care rehab just 3 weeks after that. Not bad for 84 years young!

Rose and I also made a quick trip to California with granddaughter Carmen to visit daughter Erin who is moving from California in July.

The Denja family visited over Memorial weekend and we did lots of fun things despite some rather cool weather.

In addition we managed to do some transplanting and planting in the backyard flower gardens.

We visited Elk Rapids and the lakefront park that the grandkids love so much. Miniature donuts for everyone helped out.

The favored climbing tree

They used their metal detector to find a buried time capsule from last fall.

Poet's narcissus...found growing wild in our woods...beautiful.

Almost...the look

And the question is, "Why?"

The favored breakfast...waffles and sausage

We had a campfire roaring

It's growing

Our first roses...KnockOut suggested by our friend Katie Coakley

Trying dahlias this year instead of geraniums

Some color on the front porch

Two pileated woodpeckers have been hanging around. This one got hungry.
